Each Friday, I’m challenging myself to get rid of 5 items:
Minimum.
These things may be trashed, donated, or gifted.
I’m getting my kids to find 5 things too.
When we pull this off that is 20 items removed each Friday.
80 items each month!
I’m in a “Buy nothing” community group on fb – where people post items for pickup – for free!

Today, I had some people pull up to grab a:
- Used Tory Burch Purse
- Kids Joke Book
- Boys Clothes
- GT Mini City Jogger Stroller
- Bike rack for the car
Not all of the items were claimed – so they were moved to my trunk. I was hoping I could drive around and find some people who would take them off my hand. The idea of donating to a thrift store that will resell them – is not appealing to me! So it’s either give to community members for free or donate to a church store.
While adventuring I found someone who could use a pair of pink sparkly winter boots for a young girl! While at Walmart I noticed a family and asked the mama if she could use them. She checked her daughters size and boom they should fit her next winter. The mama shared with me that her daughter’s bday was just yesterday! So we rolled up to my trunk and I was able to gift her the boots and some snowpants! The little girl liked them!
I know we get nervous about being around people and must use discernment, but community still matters!
