Can You Let Go Of Last Season?

A few years ago, the kids and I were heading out. They had on their:

I looked at the boys & said:

“Take off your coats and throw them away”

King Caleb – Instantly took his off and ran to do what I said! (No words)

King Elijah: Began to clutch coat and question me…”…but what am I gonna….”

I directly looked at Elijah and said – “Elijah take off the coat and throw it away”….he then ran off to follow Caleb.

As they did that God reminded me that I need to be like Caleb when directed to do something. I told the boys that in life God most likely will ask them to do something that makes nooo sense to them and that they should do it. I shared that what I asked them to do is similar to how God communicates with me. I don’t be read in on the why.

The boys and I walk outside. Coat- less. They remark ooh its soo warm out!

We got in the car and I asked them what popped in their mind when I told them to throw away their coats. Caleb replied “to do it and trust you. Elijah said:

“That I’d be cold and have a bad day for the rest of my life”

Loved the honesty.

When I told them to throw away their coats – they didn’t know that the actual temperature had shifted and that they would be melting in those coats that served them in the winter season.

They also did not know…that I was taking them to go eat bougie sushi lunch and then taking them to get NEW coats as the coats just discarded were beyond worn down.

I knew this info as their leader.

They need to trust me as I have a track record of taking beyond good care of them and meeting needs they don’t even know they have! Like God does for me!

After eating lunch, I took them to the target coat section and they were sooo excited about the new winter coat options! I was excited too because they are marked down significantly!

It’s like those old winter coats never existed!

Elijah remarked about how this new coat has all these pockets and a cool thumb hole and has blue in it – which he likes!

I am always baffled when my kids question me when I direct them to do something because it makes me feel like they don’t really know me.

All these years I been making sure they are clothed well, fed well, treated to new experiences, and blah blah. Yet still when asked to do something…there is hesitancy. I always ask them: do you trust me and tell them they act like they don’t truly know me.

As they do that to me. I laugh and pause and repent because I have done, still do, and will have that doubt with God too. My prayer for me is that as I walk with God the doubt becomes less and my belief increases.

I pray the same for you.

Prayer: Lord, help us to obey you and allow you to lead the way. Bring to our mind all the times you have lavished us with love and protected us. Help us to trust you. Help our unbelief.
