The Myth of “Making It”

Have you realized that becoming your best self is a:

that can never be reached in this lifetime?

There is no “making it”. It’s a game of let’s see what level I can reach before God calls me home!

Be committed to your growth and vision. It’s not too late to pivot, focus, and go all in!

Look up the areas of the wellness wheel and establish plans for how you’re going to elevate in each. (see bottom of post)

Think of it like a growth plan!

Be honest about your time wasters. Stuck on what that could be? Consider what the masses do to waste their life and potential – doom scrolling, news and celebrity overconsumptions, static bodies, unhealthy diet, pointless phone calls, and toxic relationships. Plus – sooo much more! That scrolling really gets me in a chokehold, at times. I’m breaking free of that in Jesus name, Amen!

This exercise is deeper than setting a NYE resolution. It’s an ongoing way of life.

Over here we don’t just read and think “Yea seems good” then do nothing. We act immediately.

Pick an area from the wellness wheel and identify one action you can take today to elevate!

1. Spiritual Wellness (Purpose & Connection)

  • The Action: Spend 10 minutes in silence or prayer. Ask God: “What is the one thing You want me to focus on today?”
  • The Pivot: Stop trying to “manhandle” your destiny and surrender the outcome to Him.

2. Physical Wellness (The Temple)

  • The Action: Move your body for 30 minutes. If you can’t get to the gym, walk outside.
  • The Pivot: Replace one “masses” snack (processed sugar/junk) with a whole fruit or vegetable today.

3. Intellectual Wellness (Lifelong Learning)

  • The Action: Put down the phone and read 5 pages of a book that challenges your perspective.
  • The Pivot: Turn off the podcast/music during your commute and just think. Let your brain produce its own ideas.

4. Emotional Wellness (Feelings & Resilience)

  • The Action: Write down three things you are genuinely grateful for. Be specific.
  • The Pivot: Acknowledge a “digital shriek” or frustration you’ve been holding onto, breathe, and let it go.

5. Social Wellness (Healthy Boundaries)

  • The Action: Call (don’t text) a person who actually pours into your life.
  • The Pivot: Identify one “toxic” or “pointless” notification/group chat on your phone and mute it for 24 hours.

6. Occupational/Vocational Wellness (Work & Mission)

  • The Action: Identify your biggest “time waster” at work today and eliminate it for two hours of deep focus.
  • The Pivot: Batch one task today that usually stresses you out daily (like your next blog post!).

7. Financial Wellness (Stewardship)

  • The Action: Open your banking app and look at every cent you spent in the last 48 hours. Be honest about it.
  • The Pivot: Cancel one subscription you don’t use. That’s immediate growth.

8. Environmental Wellness (Your Space)

  • The Action: De-clutter your “junk drawer” or your desk. A clear space leads to a clear mind.
  • The Pivot: Spend 15 minutes outside in the fresh air. No phone, just you and the creation.
