You and I can steer clear and stop being runover like a deer caught in headlights!

Yearly, how much of our funds go to seasonal or holiday themed decor, giftings, and gatherings?

Probably an emergency savings worth of it!

Stop for a year and I’m sure your bank accounts will increase. Just one year of not putting on a show!

We don’t have to participate. At any point, we can change our minds.

I’m not telling you what to do – I’m sharing that there is an option to choose different.

I haven’t put up a Christmas Tree in a few years. I may never put one up again. I no longer buy Christmas gifts. My children are not hurt by this. They are ages 13, 9, and soon to be 5. They aren’t shocked – they know this is a shift I’ve made. I didn’t ask for permission from them. I’m a generational legacy builder mama!

I saw a video of a mother upset about her son sharing with a stranger how he “only received 7” gifts. That baffled me.

We don’t have to “Make Christmas Happen” – what does that even mean? Do you mean make debt happen? Do you mean sacrifice emotional wellbeing to have gifts under a tree?

The kids are not due gifts – where did they get that idea from? I’ll tell you from the media and these traditions that we have mindlessly allowed to continue – without asking “Do I have to do this? Why is this a thing?”.

Many love claiming victim. “Oooh, I can’t get my kid gifts…” – help me get my kid something.

No – lets talk about upskilling and financial management to put you on a track to not require a handout.

Friend. If you are crossing over into feeling like you must over perform and take on debt – to give gifts -> you are in strong delusion.

You don’t have to participate. You don’t have to feel guilty.

Who from your family is going to pay off the debt you take on – for doing things unnecessarily to get along?

If you don’t have at least 5k saved and/or 6 months of expenses saved – why go into debt on gifts?

Shift your mind from fixating on “It’s Christmas” – “It’s That Time Of Year”.

It is another day with 24 hours. Be for real.

Jesus is the greatest gift. If you are a follower of Jesus – that should be the focus.

That’s all year round.

These material things come and go. Financial status is subject to change.

The matrix is tricking the masses!

As we go into the next year – know you can move different than you did previously in terms of gift giving triggered by “holidays”.

Psh, set expectations with your crew now so they have a year to adjust.
