The Boutique Battle: Impulse Buys vs Income Streams

I took myself to a late brunch. Then stopped in a

Boutique.

I walked in and became so over the moon about these …

fluffy hats and fluffy fanny packs.

I’ve never seen a fluffy fanny pack!!! Have you?!?

The hot pink was poppin’!

Found a red fluffy traveler bag. Told a shopper that it can double as a pillow when traveling…bahahaha…so now it’s multifunctional!

Ooh and then cream.

Found a cream fluffy hat, cream fluffy fanny pack, and then champagne gloves.

Ugh, Pain!

Took it all to the counter.

I’m sitting at the counter with the sweet cashier who had been with me through the “ooh this is cayute…what you think” journey.

Total for it all $365.

Then I remember all the financial content I’ve been consuming. Thoughts like:

Most things are wants not needs.
Consumerism has the poor and middle class in cycles of not having enough funds – yet they charge up even more fun!
If you get that “must have” feeling with items at stores…that are impulse unplanned purchases….walk away for 72 hours….create distance then come back – if you still feel as strong.

Soooo….

To buy it all under that “YOLO” trap, buy just a couple pieces, buy nothing,…just…. shdjamxbamsbskabsjsns.

Processing overload.

Told the kind cashier – who at this point is dear to my heart:

” Hold these. I’m going next door to get tea and will be back!”

I got to get tea…talk to the team there – gave a cpl workers my quick life update, financial info I’ve been consuming, and get their opinion.

I dipped out from them.

Went back to the boutique. Spent about $130. Pink fluffy hat, pink fluffy fanny, and champagne gloves.

Put the rest on hold through EOD tomorrow. My attempt at giving some space to let my “ooh me likey…gotta have…may never see anything like this again” thoughts…lift.

As I left the other items I thought about what the wealthy do:

Create assets that fund their life!

Ya know…the whole treat yourself mentality can trick you out of future stability.

So perhaps this evening I will make something that can help others and fund my fashion!

If we “YOLO” on everything we may be walking around looking silly!

Told the owner – when I see her shop in the future

…I’m running past it…she told me:

“No, come in.”

Must. Sprint. w/ the fluffy hat over my eyes!

Psh, can’t even pull the hat over my eyes….feels a little snug…like maybe it’s cutting off circulation to my brain! Bruh. Sis. I’m done shopping.

Cause when I see the peeps at the store again and they ask me about how I liked my last purchase…I will bring up the circulation challenge which created a block in my funds – my decision.

Oh, life is fun and full of lessons.

Took the hat off – maybe a gift for my four years young daughter, Queen Glory?
