The “Art Show” Method: How to Clear Out Kids’ Art Clutter (And Make Memories!)

Mamas:

You know how we get a bunch of art from our kiddos!?!

When you get a new masterpiece – make sure your child’s name is written on the back, year/age, and title (if they give you one).

Just keep the art in a bin for safekeeping.

At the end of the school year (or at an interval that makes sense to you) – host an art show!

Tape the art up on blank walls in your dwelling space, preferably in a space with seating for peeps.

Pictured here are two art galleries, one for each of my son’s.

I invited a couple neighborhood kids over to attend the art show. During this show, my boy’s walked through their art – made some ish up; cause they didn’t remember everything for real. 🙂 Some of the kids even purchased art pieces – so my boys came up on a little cash! (Be sure to remind them that the purchase price or lack of purchase, does not assign value to their creativity)

Win for them and for me – clearing out space.

Recording this art show is a way to create a digital art capsule and capture your child’s personality! Plus, you can upload the video to “the cloud” and share the link out with family/friends who are not local to you.

This activity is also a great way for your kids to practice presenting and to build community, if you invite peeps over!

Bonus: Have your child pick an intro song for their art gallery entrance!

Plus, look at all this color! Really livens up the joint!

I no longer have physical copies of all these art pieces, which is fine by me. Most are digitized via the recorded art show and individual photos that were taken.

Take that pile of art and curate and experience!

I hope this helps you and your crew!
