The other day, I told my eldest son that I was going out to:
Buy A Snack.
He goes …
I thought you were trying to save money.
I go – ” Yea, but it’s just costs a little.”.
He responded:
A little adds up.
This moment pleased me as his response made it clear that he is understanding how everyday spending choices impact finances in the long run.
For example, I go to Dollar Tree multiple times a week – that is adding up quickly. You ever go there and get just a few things – only to be rung up and owe $30!?! Imagine doing that every week!?! EEK! Items being $1.25 can trick us into thinking we’re not spending that much, when really at that store we may be spending the most!
Yall, I failed “The Test” on a satisfied (ish) stomach. Brought my son back a little somethin’, somethin for his attempt to hold me to the decision I boldly made.
If you find yourself in the same boat – give yourself grace and make a plan on how to exercise discipline and caution in the future.

Look over your spending. Yea you may be nervous to do this, but your future self will thank you!
If snack runs are depleting your funds – it is time to make better daily decisions.
What’s one snack one that you are going to cut back on this week?
Stay Diligent,
