One of these days, I’m going to learn how to:
Hook
fabrics into a colorful patterned blanket. For now – I will settle with:
crotchet blankets made by others. This one featured today was actually gifted to one of my sons.
November 2023 – I rushed myself to emergency court with my three children. Thankfully, the courthouse offered free childcare so my babies could have a sense of calm and play. I was able to pull myself together and handle legal matters – knowing my kids were well taken care of.
When I got out of court and went to get my babies:
They all had blankets.
For first time kids – visiting that space, they are given blankets. There are some ladies (probably some grannies) – who make blankets and gift them to this court childcare space. I was deeply moved by the use of their talents and kindness to show love to children. When kids are being taken to the courthouse it’s usually not a warm and fuzzy feeling – matters of the heart are usually being handled. So seeing that my babies were given something comforting after a boondoggle of a day, touched me. I hope to one day be able to crotchet blankets like the one featured in this post to bless others who could use a deep snuggle.
I wonder if these women prayed over the blankets and their future recipients. I wonder if as they folded the blankets they thought about the weight of pain the children could be carrying outwardly and inwardly.
May we all use our gifts and talents to bring God honoring comfort to those who need it.
I know the blankets were for the kids, but I had my eyes on the crotchet blanket gifted to my youngest son. Yea, I know…I know…I know…I know.
The nerve!!!
The blanket was just sooo cayute and cuddly looking. Plus… my son wasn’t a fan of the blanket cause it looked “girly” – something like that. Whew, thankful for that! He is about his paper – so he let me buy it from him for $10.
Talk about a come up!
Of course, we can all use the blanket…unless of course….creative inspiration strikes this mama!
& it did! bahahahahahahahaha
I recently tested out making this pastel crotchet blanket into a dress and wore it out today.

Ohh, I felt like a fancy young flirty granny! Twirling to “Regina Belle, Baby Come To Me” (1989), be fruitful and multiply music. 😉
Like I just popped into:
Technicolor
after living a life of black & white film. Oh, the depth!

Check out the tutorial I made for you:
Materials you’ll need to recreate this look:
- Lightweight crotchet blanket
- Hair Ties
- Scissors
- Strong Necklace or Silk/Satin Scarf
The material used to create the neckline need to be thin enough to be threaded through the crochet blanket holes, yet strong enough to bare the weight of the crotchet blanket. You can also use a silk or satin scarf instead of a necklace. Be prepared to feel some weigh as it drapes for your neck.
Experiment and have fun with this – don’t overthink it.
I highly recommend having some kind of snug fitting dress, skirt set, or shorts set underneath your crochet blanket dress…cause there are holes. & your business will be out there – if not.

Give this glam granny look a try and rock it with confidence.

I wore this outfit out to church and lunch – with cute accessories, an updo, and fluffy pink shoes.
I felt glamorous!
Jetset ready!

I’m sure you will feel the same!
When you try this out, let me know in the comments. I’d love to see your creative take on this outfit! Drop your social handle and post – so I can stalk your cayute “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14) self!
Hookin’ Up,
