Why Beauty Hides: The Cost Of Discovery

Flowers bloom to bloom.

Or even seen. Just to do what they were created to do…which was to bloom then die.

No questioning of their why.

Just them pulling nutrients from their seed, soil, and water provided by God for their nourishment. Welcoming the sun and the shade. They are content with obscurity.

Shhhh.

Which is a gift…cause it’s when they are seen…that they are picked apart and cut off from their life source.

Resulting in accelerated wilting.

They in fact don’t wanna be picked. No choose me energy. It’s a let me be alone to bloom. I don’t wanna be picked to go into a room to die for temporary “oohs and ahhs”.

They just get idolized before strange eyes, discarded when no longer lush, – as humans rush to pick another.

If people prioritized the latter, they’d leave the flower alone.

Do you ever think – “Discovery could be the end of me?”.

I often wondered when reading the Gospels in The Bible – why Jesus often performed miracles and told people to not reveal it was him.

Shouldn’t the word get out?!?

Was God’s Kingdom breaking through by establishing a secret network, discrete miracle by discrete miracle , in such a way – that man’s attempts to destroy it would fail?!?

Jesus often showed his power and then told ppl to not tell. Often referred to as the “Messianic Secret”.

But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).  Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.  He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat. – Mark 5: 40-43

Perhaps he knew that once he was discovered by the masses…his departure would quickly follow…cause we, fallen humans, only know to destroy beauty and that which we cannot understand.

Perhaps, we should follow Jesus’ strategy by keeping quiet and going stealth on our divine assignments.

The foreign is often forfeited because as much as we love it…it’s too uncommon to stay on the same ground.

People will people.

Forgive quickly.

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” – Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV)

No matter when or where you are plucked into purpose, stay connected to Jesus, the true vine.

The more we feel drained the more we must dwell in his presence.

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” – John 15:4-5 (NIV)

Despite the picking we can flourish through Jesus.

Deeply Rooted,
