Yesterday, I was at Target getting the last of my daily 10k steps. I was doing laps in my:
Powder Blue Faux Fur Coat & Pink Metallic Pants!
Of course, I ended up picking up some items as I strolled the store. While checking out, the Target cashier complimented my outfit. The woman ahead of me chimed in saying, “Yea, I saw you walking around!”.

The cashier told me she used to want to:
Stand Out.
She shared when she was younger she dressed artsy.
She told me everyone around her is conservative.
So she dresses “normal”…blending in.
I asked her what “normal” even meant.
Sharing that:
“Normal” Is Relative To You.
The woman ahead of me goes, “Yea…who gives a sh
. Ppl go talk anyway!”.
Isn’t that so true!?! I recommend that we reach acceptance on that quickly, so we can get on with living:
Authentically
Seems that while at checkout we decided to stop caring who was checking us out! ![]()

Embrace Being An Odd Bird!
Although this is cute to say it may not be fun to carry. At least not all the time. There is this tension between wanting to blend in and conform to whatever is deemed as “normal”, yet a longing for flappin’ about freely in our quirkiness. It’s important to acknowledge these feelings and comfort ourselves. Sometimes we need to feel the weight of what we’re carrying before fully expanding our wings!

In owning your God given expression, people will be drawn to you. This comes with the responsibility to point people to Jesus and encouraging them to step into their God given expression!
Before you know it you’ll be around a bunch of intriguing odd birds!
Look at the weighted ones I purchased. We kinda look alike. ![]()
