When was the last time you allowed yourself to be absorbed in a seemingly childlike activity?
A few weeks ago, I found myself locked in on:
Coloring

That’s all I was spending my days doing. I’d be coloring, snacking, and streaming content on YouTube (taking care of my fam bam also…cause adulting doesn’t stop).
A while back, I was gifted this “The Psalms In Color – Coloring Book” (affiliate link) with beautiful artwork and scriptures. I’ve been working on my love themed “Jesus Loves You” bathroom, so I selected pages that had hearts on them or scriptures with the word “love”. My ultimate plan being to put the completed pages on the bathroom walls.
I tore out 4 pages and established a color scheme that matched my bathroom design palette. This was my first time coloring a set of pages with a sense of order! I appreciated the constraint of using pinks, reds, and greys.

I encourage you to consider picking up a coloring book if you need some stress relief (who doesn’t?). For me, each petal and leaf colored gave me a sense of accomplishment as I saw the space go from empty to filled. Nothing else mattered, but what was before me. Repeating that activity, with single focus, until the entire page was colored gave me the feeling you get when you cross something major off your to do list!
I’ve found coloring to be really calming and based on my Googling – there are clear benefits, even if you think “this is a waste of time….I could be (insert adulting responsibility)”. Although I was enjoying the coloring, I was also eye rolling at myself for choosing to color when I have pressing adult matters.
Perhaps, taking a break from trying to solve challenges – creates space for solutions to bubble up?
Creative play is meaningful work.
What do you think?
After days of obsessive, non-stop coloring I completed the coloring pages!

The completed pages look like a set that is meant to go together! I love the vibrancy so much that I decided that I couldn’t just throw tape on the back and stick them to the bathroom wall. These need to look:
Official!!!
So, I ordered these picture frames (affiliate link) off of Amazon ! Yassss, she is legit fancy!

Just the step of framing made the completed coloring pages look “professional”. I took time to select the pages, establish a color palette, and color to decorate my dwelling space. This coloring project was intentional and deserves to be shown off as such. It’s a reminder to slow down, sit with myself, and dwell in God’s presence.
Now, for the final phase.
Hanging The Art
I’ve been delaying this step as I’m nervous to mess up the spacing. I’ll breathe my way through it and remind myself that I can always readjust the frames if I don’t like the outcome.
My plan is to hang the photos 2×2 (as pictured) or in a vertical line – using wall hanging strips. I’m going to get this done before Valentine’s Day, I’ve been putting it off for weeks.
Come back for the final results photo!
Have you tried adult coloring? If so, did you enjoy the activity? Let me know below.
